Dear Friend,
In light of continued safety and health concerns related to COVID-19, NACDD has decided to postpone its annual Chronic Disease Academy until Aug. 31 – Sept. 2, 2021, a full year after the original Academy date.
You do not need to take any action at this time, and we will provide additional updates to you as we continue with the planning process.
If you have submitted an abstract, it will be held for consideration until the fall, when the Abstract Committee will communicate with you directly.
We believe that a year’s postponement will allow for sufficient time to avoid the 2020 flu season (and a projected, second national wave of COVID-19) as well as enable the travel and hospitality industries to develop, implement, and test protocols and processes to protect customers from exposure to COVID-19 or other infectious diseases.
As you know, the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors’ Chronic Disease Academy is the premier professional development event for State Health Department Chronic Disease Units.
We plan to retain the agenda we had planned for this year, which has built-in multiple opportunities to enhance current competencies as well as to develop skill sets in emerging areas of focus.
We fully anticipate that the rescheduled event will be just as impactful for you and our other hundreds of attendees in 2021.
As we continue with our planning on our new timeline, we will provide additional details to Chronic Disease Directors, who may share them as appropriate.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Be safe, stay well, and keep up the incredible work you are doing every day to promote health for our communities.
In Good Health,
John W. Robitscher, MPH
CEO
National Association of Chronic Disease Directors
