Setting Up BeAScout.org Pins & Online Applications
Though we're just now ending our current school year - though in a manner we didn't expect - it's not too early to begin planning for recruitment season this Fall! In face, we highly recommend all of our Units begin making preparations for how to handle recruiting in July and August, including using online applications as part of their plan.
Be sure to check out the BSA's Information About Online Registration for Councils and Unit Leaders page on their Web site for lots of information on how to set up Units for BeAScout.org map pins, and the online invitations and applications systems.
Especially important is the Setting Up Your Units BeAScout Pin PDF document, which will walk you through the steps to ensure all of your Unit's information is accurate for families searching for Scouting Units in their area. This is a Unit Key 3 responsibility, so be sure they have this information!

Planning your Unit's Ideal Year of Scouting

As Tucker Laprade discussed on Thursday night, providing a year-round, quality Scouting program should be the goal of every Scouting unit. The Ideal Year of Scouting (IYOS) helps you develop an annual program plan, a budget to go along with that plan, and a fundraising plan to reach your program goals.
Be sure to check out all of the fantastic resources on the Crossroads of America Council's Ideal Year of Scouting Web page to start your Ideal Year of Scouting today. There are tools for Unit calendars, Unit budgets, Unit succession planning and more. There are even eight videos talking about all of the components of a solid IYOS plan!
A reminder: ALL Units MUST submit Unit calendars (for the 2020-21 school year) and Unit contact information through the submission portal on the Web site no later than July 9th!
