“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” -Dr. Suess

Principal Corner

We are almost there…Two weeks until the end of the school year!!! This year feels different than most with our distance learning all of 3rd trimester. Keep up the energy for the last two weeks…Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and families. Take care of yourself and enjoy the weekend ahead.  Warm weather is approaching next week. I look forward to connecting with all of you.

Time to pack up Rooms
Teachers have the option to come into the building on May 26th and 27th to work in their rooms.  You can come in during the instructional time period to pack up your room for the summer. These two days can be used along with June 1st.  Screening protocols and social distancing will apply on those days.

Grading Third Trimester
The elementary report card grading window will be ready for teachers to begin entering grades on May 21st. Please let teachers know that 4,3,2 = Meets and 1 = Does Not Meet. Teachers will need to enter an M, D or NA whichever is applicable on the report card. All areas of the report card will have a mark.

5th Grade Graduation
Our 5th Grade teachers and staff will be honoring out 5th grade students on Wednesday, May 26th from 1:00-3:00. The students will take part in a parade and receive a diploma that day. Please come out to support our 5th graders that day! I will be attaching the parade route to the email. If you would like to help with decorations and details on the event, please connect with Annette Witte-Nyberg. If you would like to send a photo with a message to our graduates this year that would be great!  Please send those photos to Jill Matuska.

All School Parade
We are planning on conducting an all school parade the final week of school. I am still trying to work out the details and date for the parade. We will be inviting all families to attend and plan on holding the parade for an hour one afternoon the last week of school. More details to come next week once I have all the spoken with all grade levels and specialists next week.

Student Device Drop Off
Families will be dropping off devices on May 28th and May 29th. We will be designing a schedule to help support device drop off that day. More information to come with details on device drop off. Parents will receive communication on Monday. Times for device drop off will be: May 28th (12:00-7:00) and May 29th (8:00-4:00)

Attendance
Teachers are not responsible for taking attendance on May 28th and 29th. The last day to take student attendance will be on May 26th.

Grade Level Meetings
Next week will be our last week of hosting grade level meetings. I will be updating teams of final week procedures and closing to the 2019-20 school year. Our Leadership Team will not be meeting next week. I prefer to speak to all the grade levels separately, so I can allow time for individual questions.

Steps to Create a Choice Board in Google Slides for Seesaw

1. Open Google Slides

2. Insert the shapes that you would like to use as clickable links

3. Go to a kid friendly website and search your topic

4. When you find a website you would like to use, copy the URL at the top.

5. You can also right click on a graphic from the slide (example: History channel icon) and save the image to your download folder

6. Go back to Google Slides. Go to Insert, Select image and click on the icon you just saved. Resize it to fit in your shape.

7. Click on the icon so it is selected, Go to the Insert menu and select Link.

8. Paste your link into the rectangular link box.

9. Click on the shape behind your icon. Go to the Insert menu and select Link.

10.Paste your link into the link box again. This way, no matter where the child clicks, the link will open.

Repeat this for the other options you would like students to have. If you are searching

for a video, you can just go to the Insert menu, click video and search right from there!

Even easier!!!

When you have finished your choice board, you need to make it shareable:
