LCI coordinating committee endorses Su Moran
Because all politics is local and we need her voice and experience at the State House

Su Moran, D., Falmouth,  will be a progressive voice for Cape Codand Lower Cape Indivisible's valueson Beacon Hill. And the stakes could not be higher!

Lower Cape Indivisible's coordinating committee has unanimously voted to endorse Susan Moran, Democrat, Falmouth, in the upcoming May 19 special election race for the Plymouth and Barnstable District Senate seat recently vacated by Republican Vinnie deMacedo.

While many of us do not live in Su's district, we believe she will be an effective leader for us ALL on Cape Cod. She's been endorsed by everyone from Congressman Bill Keating, Attorney General Maura Healy, to Rep. Sarah Peake, Senator Julian Cyr, and former Senator Dan Wolf,

And the stakes COULD NOT BE HIGHER. Su is running against Jay McMahon, a "Trump-Lite" Republican and comrade in arms (he has a 97% NRA approval rating, btw) with County Commissioner Ron Beaty.

The special election is taking place next week, but it's not too late to make a donation to her campaign! If you can, please DONATE HERE.

Which Senate seats are most likely to flip in November?
Democrats probably need to win all four toss-up races and the White House to gain a majority

By Amber Phillips, The Washington Post, April 24, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. EDT

There remain some big wild cards in the race for the Senate majority: Neither side has a handle yet on how the coronavirus pandemic, or the race between President Trump and former vice president Joe Biden, will shape individual Senate races.

Democrats, once seen as a long shot to take the majority from Republicans in November, have had a lot go their way in recent months. They’ve persuaded some choice candidates to jump in and make races more competitive, and their fundraising has been strong.

But to pick up at least four Senate seats, Democrats probably have to win all four toss-up races. That, plus a win by Biden, would give them an effective Senate majority, since his vice president could cast tie-breaking votes.

With a lot more unknowns than normal at this point in the election cycle, here are the 10 races most likely to flip. Because so many races are so close, rather than rank them, I grouped them into three tiers: Likely to flip; Toss-ups; Could flip under the right conditions. Read more here.

This month, Georgia's on our minds!
Help empower voters in communities of color in voter suppression states...starting with Georgia!

Over the decades, voter suppression and voter list purging have stealthily disenfranchised millions of citizens. The Reclaim Our Vote project, a non-partisan phone bank, post carding and textbanking campaign created by the Center For Common Ground, focuses on contacting voters of color in voter-suppression states to help them register and vote.

Community political and religious leaders in Georgia have asked Reclaim Our Vote to mail Vote By Mail postcards to active voters of color by May 22, urging them to vote by mail and return their absentee ballots during Early Voting in Georgia (May 18-June 5).

Please join us this week to write Postcards to Voters in Georgia. You may write postcards on your own from home OR join us to write and talk together on a ZOOM call next Wednesday (instructions will follow upon sign-up). Here's the drill:

1. RSVP  today, to Anne Moore to say you will definitely participate and want a Georgia Postcards to Voters package. Because so many of our past postcard writers have already stepped up to postcard, we have a limited number of cards remaining. The first 7 people to respond this weekend will be assured of getting a package. An RSVP is required.

2.  Monday, May 18, 1:00-3:00 pm. Pick up your one bag of postcards from the back of Anne's car at 6 Quasons Path, Brewster. Stamps, postcards and names and addresses are provided. Your name will be placed on the bag, so please take ONLY the bag labeled with your name and mail completed postcards on May 22.

3.  Donations. Only if you are able, please make a donation in any amount to the donation basket while picking up your letters. Your donations help us cover printing, envelopes, postage and other costs, and every dollar helps the cause.

4.  Wednesday, May 19, 1:00-2:00 PM (optional). Login to our Zoom Virtual letter-writing for a group grumble, social interaction, and some actual letter-writing. We will email all participants instructions for joining the Zoom call in advance. Stay tuned for Zoom instructions.

5.  Friday, May 22 - MAIL ALL FINISHED POSTCARDS. This is a change from our usual MO because of the special election coming up in Georgia.

6.  And don't worry, if you miss next week's action, we will be offering letter-writing and postcarding opportunities every week....so stay tuned!

Take action -  RSVP here to reserve your package today. Questions? Email Anne Moore at moorea4924@gmail.com or call her at 774-722-3083

Your donation—no matter the size—will help defray the direct costs of operations, from meeting room rentals and printing to posters, postage and transportation. What’s more, your contribution will enable us to grow our programs to further inform and mobilize Cape Cod communities to resist the Trump administration and promote progressive values, candidates and policies at all levels.
