I hope you're all well and coping.
While Levenshulme Market remain closed down, there's a couple of things I wanted to send your way.
First of all, government funding. Being self-employed and unable to trade at markets, most of you will probably be eligible for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme. Please apply for your HMRC money if you are. If you've dealt with HMRC before, you'll know that they tend not to have the most straightforward online processes, but this one is actually relatively painless - all you should need are your UTR and NI numbers. You may also be eligible for Universal Credit - the process for this is more intimidating and, if successful, you won't receive your money for a while. But don't let that put you off. My advice is to phone them up if you're unsure about anything and, generally, to not feel like you shouldn't be asking for money: none of what has happened to your businesses is your fault and these social safety nets exist for a reason.
Secondly, ShopAppy have been in touch and asked to let you know that they've made their membership free to local businesses during the Coronavirus outbreak. ShopAppy is a digital platform that enables customers to browse their local businesses and order products for collection (and, under their paid model, delivery). The free membership is currently scheduled to run until 31 July then it reverts to £9.99/£19.99 per month. If anyone is interested but needs more info, drop me a line and I'll put you in touch with our contact there.
Hopefully by now you'll be aware of our online database of traders continuing to sell their products is continuing to grow. If you are a trader who is continuing to do business and would like to be included, please drop me an email and I'll include you on the list. If you are already listed, let me know if some of the info needs changing.
