I'm consciously moving my language from "lockdown" and "pandemic" and "COVID-19" to "on pause". Please remind me if I revert.

The idea of a pause feels much more reflective. Less threatening. There are possibilities of growth and new beginnings.

We've come a long way in 9 weeks. Who would have thought we would be wearing masks (and tutting at those who don't wear them properly)?  

Now we are gently moving from pause. Not a go, but an exploration. I stood outside Empanada Mama yesterday waiting for deliciousness.  It was calm, but there was a tension. We distanced and we checked our masks. We are managing in the new normal.  We are learning.

Over the road at Arriba Arriba — were they all at the right distance? I don't know. Everyone was trying.  We are all in this together working out the new "rules", which frankly remain the same as usual.  "Don't be a dick" and be human. Let's be patient.

Circling back to social distancing news... Do you see these protective rings in your future?

Thank you Tamsen Fadal for pointing out the deliciousness of Justino's Pizza on 10th Ave (now added to our "Hell's Kitchen is OPEN!" list). It's so exciting that new places are re-opening daily.  This weekend we have added Medi Wine Bar, Frisson Espresso, Giardino 54, Blue Seafood Bar, Times Square Diner, and Flame Diner to the list.  We are delighted to say that Westway Diner and Mont Blanc 52 will be back next week too!
