SPOTLIGHT: GRADUATING INTERNS
Two SIMAP interns are graduating this spring from UNH
SIMAP interns Cassidy Yates and Rachel Rymaszewski are graduating this spring. Congratulations to Cassidy, Rachel, and all other graduating students!
  • Cassidy Yates quickly became an expert in campus greenhouse gas inventories during her internship with UNH. She not only led the data collection and calculation for UNH's 2019 footprint, but has also reviewed greenhouse gas inventories for many of your campuses as part of a SIMAP data review. Cassidy earned a dual major in Environmental Engineering and Sustainability.
  • Rachel Rymaszewski started her internship by calculating UNH's food nitrogen footprint and has expanded to several other projects. Her research has given us a better understanding of the sustainability of food purchases at UNH, and her work will also set the standard for calculating a campus' local nitrogen footprint. Rachel earned a degree in Environmental Conservation and Sustainability with minors in Business Administration and Geospatial Analysis.
  • Congratulations to Cassidy, Rachel, and all other students graduating this spring! Cassidy and Rachel, thank you for all of your great work. Your accomplishments will have meaningful and lasting impacts on the sustainability of UNH and higher ed in general. We wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!

Please fill out the Commuting Data Collection and Analysis Survey by May 22
  • Please fill out the Commuting Data Collection and Analysis Survey by May 22 to provide feedback on updates proposed by the Commuting Working Group.
  • The survey asks for your feedback on proposals for commuting data, a commuting survey, and electric vehicles.
  • Thank you for your feedback!
REMINDER: TIER 2 ACCOUNTS AND 2019 VERSION OF EMISSION FACTORS

This new subscription level and version of emission factors were released in February 2020.
  • Tier 2 accounts offer multi-campus functionality, which allows you to track the footprints of multiple campuses in a single account. Tier 2 also includes data tags, or the ability to ‘tag’ your data points with identifying information. Upgrade now on the my account page. Tier 2 subscriptions are $600/year. Signatories to the Climate Commitment will continue to receive a 40% discount on subscriptions.
  • The 2019 version of emission factors includes a comprehensive update to the most current data sets. This means that you may see some changes in your results for recent years. See this page for more information on what has been updated. To make the change to the 2019 version, go to the calculation sources and methods form and select '2019' from the Emission Factor Version drop-down. Note: This step is necessary to use the new version because your account will not automatically update to the 2019 version of emission factors.
  • Other new features released this year include bulk operations (the ability to delete or edit multiple data points at once), account alerts and errors to bring your attention to missing data points, and the custom emission factors page

CO-HOSTED WEBINAR LAST MONTH

The webinar was titled 'Measuring Higher Ed's Progress Towards Carbon Neutrality'

  • Co-hosted with Second Nature and Brailsford & Dunlavey, this webinar presented findings from an analysis of higher ed carbon footprint results over time.
  • This was the first data analysis to use the aggregated data set from SIMAP, which was cross-referenced with reports made to Second Nature.
  • Click here to see a recording of the webinar, and stay tuned for the next results from the analysis!

As always, please contact us at simap@unh.edu with any questions or feedback.
