POINT PARK PLAYHOUSE 2020-2021 SEASON REVEAL

Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse, Downtown's newest center for arts and entertainment, will be announcing its electrifying 2020 - 2021 season via video on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube this Tuesday, May 19 at 1:00 p.m.

The upcoming season is unlike any other, with new programming, subscriber benefits, and more. Steven Breese, artistic director, and Drew Martorella, managing director, will present an overview of the season and all of the exciting things in store for patrons and the community this coming year.

The Pittsburgh Playhouse also recently announced a Play Reading Series that will premiere in its 2020-2021 season.

The new series will feature readings of original plays and musicals not previously produced by local, regional, and national playwrights.

11TH STREET FARMERS MARKET

Thanks to everyone who shopped and supported local farmers, bakers, makers and more at the first-ever 11th Street Farmers Market yesterday.

The new location allows more space for vendors and shoppers to safely spread out and is easily accessible via walking and biking thanks to close proximity to the riverfront trails and Penn Avenue. Limited free parking is also available.

A reminder that traditional Market Square Farmers Markets will not be occurring on Thursdays at this time.

SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES THROUGH YELLOW PHASE

As Allegheny County enters its first full week in Yellow Phase under Pennsylvania's plan to reopen, we're tracking the small businesses and restaurants that are open for private appointments, curbside pickup, and additional in-person shopping options.

In Yellow Phase, the stay-at-home order is lifted with precautions still in place to continue to stop the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing, wearing masks when out and about, and other precautions are still required, but stores and restaurants can begin to reopen.

You can view a list of the Downtown retailers currently operating, along with an updated list of what restaurants are offering takeout or delivery.

Pittsburgh City Paper has an easy-to-read guide to what Yellow Phase actually means. Stay up-to-date on all the current restrictions and preventative measures in place on the official Allegheny County COVID-19 resource page

CONEMAN TIP OF THE WEEK: Port Authority Neighborhood Bus Service to Resume Normal Service Beginning on May 18

Last week, Governor Wolf announced that 13 more counties, including Allegheny County, are authorized to move to the yellow phase of reopening. With this news, Port Authority announced that they will resume regular service on the majority of their bus lines (local and coverage lines) beginning on Sunday, May 18.

Safety protocols, including wearing riders and operators wearing masks, rear door entering/exiting, and maintaining social distance measures, will remain in place. In addition, maximums capacity restrictions will remain in effect and the total passenger count by bus size (35, 40, or 60 feet) will each allow five additional passengers.

For bus lines and light rail service that isn’t returning to regular service levels, Port Authority plans to monitor schedules and adjust schedules where needed. Riders looking for additional information about Port Authority’s current COVID-19 prevention strategies, visit the main COVID-19 Update page.
