Fall Semester 2020 Update

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, MC finished the Spring 2020 semester in a distance education format, but administrators are “cautiously optimistic” that they can resume in-person instruction and residential living in the fall. Read more on the MC website.

Outstanding Teacher Award 2020

During the College’s May 9 virtual commencement ceremony, Dr. Nikki Hilton, assistant professor of psychology, was named the winner of the Outstanding Teacher Award, and Dr. Drew Crain, professor of biology, was named runner-up. Read the press release!

Outstanding Community Service

MC senior Miracle Walls ’20 and Amy Gilliland, director of community engagement at MC, were named recipients of the 2020 Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award sponsored by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Read the press release on the MC website.

Coin and Cording Ceremony

Just like the Spring 2020 semester moved online at Maryville College, so too did the school’s annual Coin and Cording Ceremony for veterans and military-related students preparing to graduate. Read more about this year’s ceremony.

  • National Geographic Live: The Clayton Center for the Arts is a presenting partner of the National Geographic Live speaker series. Tune in on the Clayton Center Facebook page every Wednesday at 1 p.m. (ET)/10 a.m. (PT)! This week, the series is going backstage with wildlife filmmaker Filipe DeAndrade, host of National Geographic Wild’s “Untamed.” Get ready for a hilarious and eye-opening look at life behind the camera — from learning the subtleties of "shark body language" to earning the trust of a humpback whale. He’ll share stories of singing with wild dolphins, reveal the secret messages of cat scat, and celebrate why sharks are spectacular, not scary. (Note: the Facebook livestream is accessible to anyone, even if you don’t have a Facebook account)
