Join Eirene as she talks with psychotherapist Kelley Kitley during Mental Health Month
It's Mental Health Awareness Month!
If you’ve been here awhile, you know that I’m very open about my own mental health journey. I’m a big time advocate for putting in the work to make yourself happy – whether it’s through therapy, meditation, medication, you name it.
So if you’re feeling anxious right now, or overwhelmed, maybe even hopeless or scared, know that you are not alone and that you have options! This COVID-19 “season” has definitely been a mental health challenge for me and lots of my GIT Moms out there, and I have the statistics to back me up.
Since COVID began, pharmacies are seeing a record number of new anti-anxiety prescriptions – 34% more to be exact. That, on its own, is newsworthy, but the real shocker? THE INCREASE HAS BEEN TWICE AS HIGH FOR WOMEN THAN FOR MEN!
Which is why I hope you’ll join me today at 3pm EST for a very important Instagram Live. I am going to be chatting with Kelley Kitley, psychotherapist, author of "My Self" and podcast host of “She Cago.”
Among other things, we are going to talk about:
The value of talk therapy;
How to get over your fear of starting therapy;
How to find a therapist;
What to expect from therapy; and
How to navigate the stigma attached to taking mental health medications.
