The pandemic has seen artists big and small push album releases back. Lucky for us, Mike Hadreas, who makes music as Perfume Genius, decided to release his new album, âSet My Heart on Fire Immediatelyâ on Friday. Itâs the first genuinely great pandemic release.
NME described it as âa campy interpretation of masculinity,â which is perfect. The sound calls on swaggering rock nâ roll, while still playful, glamorous, and decidedly âfuck you.â âSet My Heart on Fire Immediatelyâ is a dystopian, chin-out, lustful celebration of queer alt-rock glam.
Itâs a visceral and complex album for these strange times. Give it a spin.
