Good news! We are reopening at 93a Aro St this Thursday 14th May.
This is a quick newsletter to let you know we are allowed to reopen on this Thursday.
Following on from the NZ Governments's Covid-19 Alert Level 2 update on Monday, it was announced that retail can reopen with conditions:
1. Maximum of 4 customers. We will allow a maximum of 4 customers in the store at a time. This includes small children. This is because our new shop is small and we want everyone to keep our 2 metre physical distance.
2. Eftpos Only. We will not be accepting cash at this point in time. But we do have Eftpos and have enabled PayWave for contactless payment.
3. Contact Tracing. We will be recording customer's details for contact tracing for by NZ Government for, what I am sure we all hope to be, the unlikely event of case linked to our shop.
4. Please use Sanitiser We have found some lovely Dr Bronner Organic Lavender Hand Sanitiser from Commonsense Organics. It has 62% alcohol. more than the MOH guideline requirements fo sanitiser.
These certainly are unusual times, and it's not quite over yet, so we thank you for your understanding while we try to keep everyone safe.

We can reopen!
How are you all doing in your bubbles? Hasn’t 5 weeks gone by quickly? I had a feeling it would, with a long list of things to do. But with a 4 year old about, not many things on that list have been completed,
I did manage to make a sourdough starter from scratch! And succeeded in making one a loaf of bread, and lots of quick to make sour-dough crumpets. The rest of the time in Lockdown has been spent helping on 4-year-old craft projects, fixing up shop fittings, and entertaining the 4 year old.
As well as trying to get the new shop in order, the team has also spent some time putting new products on our website. This isn't a quick job, so bare with us, while we slowly take photographs and add them! But you can now shop for more products and fabrics online. You can have these couriered direct to you, or you can pick up contactless-ly at our new shop on Aro St.
Contactless pick up and reduced hours.
During Alert Level 3 we are open Wednesday to Friday 9.30am - 3pm.
We have set up a pick-up area just inside the door of our new shop, where you can collect your items or even fabric samples. We will prepare your items for you safely, using gloves and masks, and appropriate sanitation. Just let us know what time you will come so we know you are coming, and to ensure we haven't popped out to grab a coffee.
When you arrive, knock on the door and step back 2 metres, We will open the door for you.
If you are collecting something, as per NZ Government requirements for contact tracing, we will need to take your details when picking up.
Consultations
Currently, during Alert Level 3, we can not offer one-on-one in person consultations.
However, as our team has been adding lots of new products to our website you can browse online. Give us a call or email and we can put samples aside for you to pick up. When we go to Alert Level 2, Janette can come and do a final measure for you (if you are in Wellington) Feel free to call Janette (Wednesday - Friday) to have a chat also about your requirements. 021 129 2945

Nature Wallpaper
Wallpaper has not been an item we have managed to source that fits our ecological ethos in recent years. It is now full of vinyls and synthetics. Even the wallpapers that look like paper and call themselves ‘Eco’ in fact contain Polyester. It makes it much easier to hang, but what happens when you tire of it? You can’t compost it or burn it, so off to the landfill it goes.

We finally have found a NZ printed wallpaper that is actually paper. No synthetics in the backing. . Paperhands hand screen print their paper in their Wairarapa Studio.

|
Last week we dropped this newly upholstered tub chair (contactless-ly) back to its home. The 100% felted wool is a classic fabric we use a lot. It is a commercial-grade, NZ wool so very hard-wearing.
We have just sourced some brand new 100% New Zealand manufactured felted Wool. Come and see us in the shop to view colours.

Roman Blind in Hills of Home. This is a great classic that has been around for over 8 years.
We don’t tend to follow the ‘latest trends’. Custom made Window treatments are expensive and are an investment in your home. So you don’t want to be replacing them every couple of years because they look out dated. We think this NZ printed Belgium Linen does the trick!
