Dear Friends,

Last month, members of our Alaska Community have sponsored a "Donate a Mask and Protect a Life" Campaign, in response to Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy and Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz’s call to the community, to come forward and help with the shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) that Anchorage faces due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12th, 2020, the Alaska Jewish Campus and Museum will deliver its first shipment of 3-PLY surgical masks to Mayor Ethan Berkowitz. Members of the Jewish community will officially present the donated face masks to the mayor for distribution to first responders, medical providers and to those in the community at risk of exposure to the coronavirus.

Tomorrow’s event will coincide with the Jewish unity day of Lag B’omer, when Jews around the world will be celebrating Jewish unity and brotherhood. It is in the spirit of this day of celebration that we hope to inspire our fellow Alaskans with our Alaskan spirit of unity and the importance of watching out for each other.

The campaign is in the spirit of the most noble of Jewish values, "Saving a Life is Saving the World" and is intended to purchase as many face masks (3-PLY) as possible in order to distribute them to first responders such as police, medical personnel as well as those at risk. In the future we hope to be able to purchase N-95 masks, as well.

At tomorrow’s event, we hope to encourage and inspire our fellow Alaskans on the importance of keeping our physical distance, wearing our masks, and reinforcing the most important value of all: protecting and saving lives.

The "Donate a Mask and Protect a Life" Campaign is inviting all citizens of Anchorage to join us as our community comes together at this time of crisis to help those who are risking their lives on the front lines battling COVID-19.  To Donate a Mask, please click on the button below and join our campaign.

We would like to extend an invitation to all members of the Alaska community to join us for this outdoor presentation, which will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12 at 12PM, in front of the Alaska Jewish Campus building located at 1117 East 35th Avenue. Wearing masks and physical distancing guidelines will be observed. If you would like to bring your children, please stay in the car with open windows and you can watch the presentation and the Jewish music which will be played at the event.

Wishing you and your family good health, serenity, and peace of mind that we all need during these challenging times.
