Diversity and inclusion, with an emphasis on the question why and how identities are based on ethnicity, gender and socio-economic class, were high on the agenda in society and education in the pre-Corona era. The lockdown made it even more painfully clear that having access to society and education cannot be taken for granted. For this newsletter we have selected a few reflections and ideas regarding these urgent matters in a beautiful INSTA dialogue and poem and some letters that were written for our recently published zine. Also included in this newsletter is a link to our well-attended and very inspiring online event with Chihiro Geuzebroek, and our webinar on Crisis Education. And a friendly reminder: we ask of you to support the emergency fund for ArtEZ students. Stay sharp, stay engaged!
INSTA POETRY @Amaravdelst
On March 12, we organized the event Diversity for What? about how ArtEZ takes a position on diversity, for which we had invited Amara van der Elst of the BA Creative Writing programme. That day, she filled the room with a powerful poem on the depth and richness of street culture. Read this beautiful work on INSTA or on our website. The animations are made by Corine van der Wal.

THE DIALOGUE IN BETWEEN
The dialogue in between is a conversation between Natasja Wagendorp (BA Teacher of Visual Arts and Design department) and Ashly Ho (BA Dancer/Maker), both first year students of the Honours Programme. This INSTA dialogue is an artistic exploration of gender, race, decolonization and power relations. Be inspired by the meandering discussion, insights into the research and the thoughts of Natasja and Ashly. Read more on our website
