Dear <<First Name>>,

“This year feels like the toughest Ramadan I must go through.”

I've been speaking to Muslim women around the world about how they are managing to celebrate the month of Ramadan during COVID-19. This quote, from Fika Salsabilla Ramadhani in Indonesia, has really stuck with me.

Ramadan is so much more than a month of fasting. It's also a time for reflection, community prayers, sharing meals with family and friends, and giving charity to the less fortunate. But with COVID-19 gripping the entire world, many of the traditions of Ramadan have been changed to adhere to social distancing and lockdown regulations.

For me, this month has meant not spending time with family but more time to spend on personal reflection.

I've been grateful to hear from readers about their reflections of life in this pandemic. As always, get in touch if you have a story to tell!

In solidarity,

Fatima Moosa,

This week one of the favourite things I read was a Yomi Adegoke's interview with Megan Thee Stallion in The Guardian. It's such a beautiful written and insightful piece. I'd love to hear what you're reading this week -  Email me or ping @fatimamoosa17 on Twitter. (I look forward to hearing from you)
