Situational Depression

We all have times in our lives when negative circumstances begin to affect us emotionally. We wouldn’t consider ourselves clinically depressed but we are experiencing some pretty significant “down” feelings. This is referred to as situational depression, reactive depression or just plain discouragement. Symptoms of this condition include feelings of sadness and hopelessness, difficulty sleeping, disruption of normal eating patterns, negative thinking, tendency to cry more often and even suicidal thoughts.

The Bible relates an event in the life of the prophet Elijah when he was experiencing this kind of depression. The way that God dealt with the prophet can give some insights into how we might deal with this condition in our own lives or in the life of someone we know.

TEN LIFE CHOICES MEN'S RETREAT

The Ten Life Choices Men's Retreat that was scheduled for May has been re-scheduled for July 17-19, 2020. The retreat is an in-depth study of the Ten Life Choices designed to help men process any obstacles to living the Life God created them to live! The retreat includes 2 night's lodging at New Every Morning Retreat center in Paw Paw, WV, 5 meals, 5 group sessions, a copy of the book and one individual counseling session. LifeNow Prison Ministry

The COVID-19 Pandemic has hit the United States prison system very hard. One inmate who leads a LifeNow men's group in a federal prison in Michigan reported that 35 men had died in that facility and many more were sick. LifeNow has been corresponding with leaders in several prisons to encourage them and assure them of our prayers. Interest in the Ten Life Choices correspondence course has increased so donations are needed to fund this part of the LIfeNow Ministry.
