Community Mentors,
I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to remind you that I am still here, and help you find ways to stay connected with your mentee (if that is possible right now).

There are still so many unknowns, so as Vermont changes the guidelines for opening up, please stay connected with me about your plans for being with your mentee. As of today, the best option is still virtual meetups, phone calls and mail - so please reach out if you need help connecting in these ways.

If you have time, let me know how things are going for you, if you have had any connections with your mentee, or you just need to check in. I have also included some good articles to read about from our mentor resource page.

Again, I understand we are all in different situations right now, so only do what you can, and let me know if you need anything.

Best Wishes
Pam

As we navigate our new world or online communication I want to share this thoughtful article about video classicism. A great article for us all to read, despite the socioeconomic status of our mentee. The article can be found on our Mentor Resource Page under the Understanding Poverty section.
Virtual "Match Meet Ups"
So far this month we have had matches go on virtual tours of museums, create art, see each others animals, played checkers and cards online, plain old chatted, and read books together. This is new territory for everyone, but if you want help trying to figure out a new way to connect, let me know and I can help set it up.
Marshfield Story Project
Thanks to our mentor and mentee pairs that participated in the first Marshfield Story Project Virtual Story Circle. It was great to see everyone and hear how each of us is navigating this pandemic. I will share the link once is is shared. To find out more about the project visit the Jaquith Website
Virtual Meeting Ideas
Please check out this keeping in touch page on our website to get ideas of what to do together. Ideas include book discussions, virtual tours, interactive games, and classes - all for FREE!
I am here to Help

Please let me know how I can help you feel connected!
I am available by phone (426-3013) or email any time. Please reach out and let me know how you are doing!

Myths of the Adolescent Brain

You can take this time of social isolation to study a new topic! If you haven't had a chance to see this - check out our resource from our  "Askable Adults" discussion. I still hope to one day have a discussion about the adolescent brain. We would use the following as resources.
  • Myths of the Adolescent Brain (a 4 minute video)
  • Listen to this one hour Podcast: 07 Daniel Siegel - Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain. (can also be found on itunes and downloaded on your phone -reach out if you need help getting this)
  • Daniel Siegel's book, Brainstorm. (optional, as it is long)
Let me know what you think of the video and podcast, and if sparks a curiosity to discuss these ideas with others. Looking forward to when we can be together in person again for this discussion.
