Local Farm Products in High Demand

Farmers selling direct to consumers are seeing a large increase in demand for their products due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether they are selling meat, eggs, dairy, vegetables, fruits, or preserved products, farmers across Kentucky are seeing a boost in sales.

Jefferson County has over 20 farmers' markets and many are open for business. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, farmers' markets have been deemed essential services in Kentucky. These outdoor markets provide the opportunity for consumers to shop in a safe environment for foods that come directly from local farms. Many of the markets have instituted guidelines on how to shop safely. Check out these guidelines on how to be a good farmers' market citizen in case you don't know where to find them for your local market.

If you are planning to head to the farmers' market this week, check out their Facebook page or website beforehand. Many farmers are taking pre-orders by phone or online. You can find a listing of all of the farmers currently serving the Jefferson County market on our Local Farms to Louisville Tables page along with the products they sell and their contact information.
