A Quick Note First...

Coaches Corner

Hi guys! Miss us yet? We miss you! So much that we are actually going to run our own online program for the month of May. Bear with us as we figure this out, because online coaching is new to us too. However, the main gist of this is that every week we will send out a list of workouts, and some options for fun things to do while we navigate this funky time of Covid 19. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch with me over email or the Instagram! But for now, what you will need for our workouts is a skipping rope (or you can imagine one if you’re really feeling creative but we prefer actual ropes ourselves), running shoes, a water bottle (did you really think we would forget to remind you to drink water?!), and some space! Anything else we will list under that specific workout. Let’s get moving!

For our fun this week..

We want to challenge you guys to try incorporating some more stretching into your workout regimes! We talk about the importance of recovery and stretching after practices all the time, and now we have so much extra time to go through a thorough stretching routine. One of the ways that the coaches love to unwind and loosen up those sore muscles is through yoga, and we highly recommend giving that a try, especially if you’re unsure where to start!

Here are some suggestions for inspiration if you need some guidance through a stretching routine..

  1. Fernwood yoga: this awesome local studio is running free zoom classes every day over their Instagram. Check them out if you need some inspiration!
  2. Oneyoga is another amazing local studio also offering free classes over Instagram, highly recommend tuning in if you need some ideas!
  3. Youtube. There are TONS of free resources for yoga classes and stretching routines available over YouTube, even entire channels designed with yoga for swimmers! 

Stay Connected

Our Instagram Account is hoppin' with lots of great content from our Coaches. Head over there to see videos of all of our coaches favourite swim moments, photos of seasons past and enjoy the memories! 

Our private "Sidney Piranhas Swim Club" Facebook Group is another excellent way to stay connected. If you haven't already, be sure to search for the group and request to join. 

Summer Registration

We have opened registration so that our swimmers can participate in the BCSSA Covid Cup virtual training program!

See more about the program HERE. Swimmers must be registered to participate as they are required to be insured.
Registration cost is only $10 and that covers your insurance until April 30, 2021 which is a cost savings of $33 per swimmer even if they only swim Winter Maintenance! If you wait until after July 9th you will have to pay $43 in insurance for Winter Maintenance (or, crossing our fingers, some pool training later this summer).
