The end of the 2019/20 school year will be one that will never be forgotten and will go down in the history books. Initially, we thought we’d be out for just a couple of weeks for distance learning, and then it turned into the remainder of the school year. We mentioned that this was a learning experience for all of us, and I want to commend everyone - parents, students, and teachers - on coming together well and finishing the year out strong. If anything, this experience has made our Curtis family closer and stronger.
- Mr. Scott Phillips, Head of School

Class of 2020 Graduation Ceremony
The Curtis Baptist School Class of 2020 Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, at 11 AM in the Curtis Baptist Church sanctuary. We look forward to celebrating each of our graduates!
Congratulations to Our 2020 Kindergarten Graduates
2020 Kindergarten Graduation will take place on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 9 AM in the Sanctuary.
Last Day of School Schedule - May 22
Students will be dropping off and picking up their items curbside. Teachers will meet you in carline to collect the items you are dropping off and deliver what you are picking up.
This would be a great time to deliver your end-of-year teacher gifts.
If you have any Boxtops to turn in, there will be a collection box in both carlines; you can continue to submit electronic ones by scanning your receipts.
Elementary students are asked to return their carline signs to Mrs. Glover. There will be a box to collect those as well.
Below is the schedule for when your grade will be picking up your classroom items. If you have a sibling in another grade, we recommend coming when the older/oldest sibling is scheduled.
9:00 AM 1st Grade 6th Grade
10:00 AM 2nd Grade 7th Grade
11:00 AM 3rd Grade 8th Grade
12:00 PM 4th Grade 9th Grade
1:00 PM 5th Grade 10th Grade
2:00 PM Elem LP 11th/12th Grade
Kindergarten will be dropping off items on Wednesday, May 20, between 9 AM and 12 PM.
The Curtis Baptist Church Food Pantry continues to serve families in need on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. You are invited to drop off a donation for the food pantry on the last day of school. Items needed are canned foods (such as boxed meals, meats, fruits, soups, vegetables), breakfast foods (such as grits, pancake mix, cereal, oatmeal), nonperishable staples and snacks (such as dried beans, rice, sugar, flour, cookies, muffin/cake mixes) and personal care items (such as shampoo, toothpaste, bar soap, dish & powder laundry soap, deodorant).
Daycare & Preschool News
We greatly appreciate your patience as we all go through this pandemic together. As you know, Governor Kemp has lifted some restrictions, specifically for childcare. Having more than 10 in a classroom now allows us to be at normal capacity for children. We are excited to be another step closer to opening up. However, the stay-in-place order is still in effect until June 12th for higher risk people and affects some of our employees. We want to be able to open safely and follow the rules in place, for our staff as well as our families. There is a plan in the making for us to meet requirements and open as soon as we are able. We look forward to announcing a re-opening date (hoping for June 15th), as we all miss you very much.
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12

Guidance News
I cannot believe it is already the end of the school year! I know the last few weeks have been challenging at times, but I am proud of each of you and how you handled everything!! I wanted to mention a few things for you to be thinking about over the summer.
1. Seniors: I am so proud of each of you!! I know this is not how you saw your senior year ending, but you have all done a great job of making the most out of this situation. I look forward to celebrating your achievement at graduation!!
2. Electives: We anticipate sending an email mid-June to all high school students that will contain elective options for the next school year. Please keep in mind some students will have electives that they need to take to satisfy graduation requirements. If that is the case for your student and their selection does not match the requirement, I will contact you and discuss all options.
3. Dual Enrollment: If you are a rising Junior or Senior and are interested in participating in dual enrollment, please let me know ASAP. We will need to set up a zoom meeting to discuss the process of dual enrollment and the expectations of you as a representative of Curtis Baptist School.
4. Rising Seniors: I have emailed you scholarship opportunities through College Board. Please take advantage of those this summer. I will continue sending them out as I receive them.
Now that we are winding down the school year, we are looking forward to August and the start of the 2020/21 school year. Our motto for the 2020/21 school year is F.O.C.U.S 2020. Our focus will be on getting our classrooms ready for our students in August and another successful year.
We are also pleased to announce that all of our open faculty positions have been filled. Mrs. Julie Griffin will be our second K5 Teacher, and Miss Ashley Tiller will be our 3rd Grade homeroom teacher.
CBS will start the new school year with some new strategies and policies in place in regard to COVID-19 as we adjust to social distancing and make the best effort to be able to attend school in the school building. You will be getting more information about those strategies and policies as we get closer to the start of the year.
Reenrollment and Admissions
Our reenrollment numbers are doing very well which means that only a few students remain to be reenrolled for the coming year. You can log onto renweb here (https://cbs-ga.client.renweb.com/pwr/) to reenroll your student. If you need assistance with your username/password, email Deb Ulrich at admissions@curtisbaptist.org.
The admissions office is giving scheduled tours to prospective families. Email Deb Ulrich at admissions@curtisbaptist.org if you have any questions about CBS, the admissions process or if you would like to schedule a tour of our campus.
Pray for Our School
Did you know there is a link to a school prayer guide on the school website? Though you may not be able to be there in person, you can still be praying for our students, teachers and leadership during this unusual time.
