Please Take Our THRIVE Winter Park
Economic Recovery Survey
As Winter Park begins the important work of recovering from the economic blow delivered by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that we collect data. This morning, we emailed a survey that will help us measure the economic impacts of business closures over the past two months and we are also including a link HERE. This survey, created by a team of economists at the Balmoral Group, is step one in the creation of an Economic Impact Study that will help guide Winter Park’s recovery. Please help us be successful by taking the survey. Thank you.
A Review of Florida’s 2020 Legislative Session

Scott Maxwell - Orlando Sentinel Columnist
Local legislative leaders join us each year following adjournment of the Florida Legislature to discuss their goals and accomplishments and review legislative needs on the horizon.
This year we will take the discussion, in the form of a webinar, one critical step further, reviewing Florida’s urgent, unanticipated needs through the lens of the coronavirus pandemic. We’re excited that Orlando Sentinel columnist Scott Maxwell will again moderate the discussion.
The entire delegation has been invited to participate and the following have accepted:
Sen. David Simmons
District 9
Sen. Linda Stewart
District 13
Sen. Victor Torres, Jr.
District 15
Rep. Anna V. Eskamani
District 47
Rep. Joy Goff-Marcil
District 30
Rep. Amy Mercado
District 48
Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith
District 49
Rep. David Smith
District 28
Scott Maxwell is well-known for his appreciation of local and statewide politics, his poignant observations and his tireless support of our community. As our moderator, he will engage legislators in a review of Florida’s 2020 legislative accomplishments and invite them to share their hopes for Florida’s post-pandemic recovery.
Register today to join us for this discussion of Florida’s ever-broadening range of needs and an opportunity to thank our representatives in Tallahassee for the work that still lies ahead.
Commissioners submitted questions today on the topics they wish to discuss with representatives of the architectural, construction and project management teams at tomorrow’s Work Session. They indicated at last night’s City Commission meeting that they are primarily interested in budgetary details and construction updates and plans, including the success of the soil de-mucking process, the materials needed to construct the buildings’ shells, stormwater management guidelines prescribed by the St. John’s Water Management District and planned parking space.
