BAHT 2020 annual conference
The BAHT 2020 annual conference, ‘Demystifying the Difficult,’ will be presented as a Webinar Series and the call for abstracts is now open!
The deadline for submission is Friday 4th September 2020.
Abstracts must be plain text (no tables, references or colours) and 300 words maximum, title excluded.
Please structure your abstract as follows:
- Title
- Objectives: 1-2 sentences that clearly indicate the main study question(s) and its clinical importance
- Methods: Sufficient information to describe experimental design and analysis
- Results: Objective data in answer to the study question(s). Data collection may be in process but must be completed by the presentation.
- Conclusions: Conclusions that are directly supported by the study results and their implications for clinical practice.
Please email your abstracts as a word file to
baht.cec@gmail.com by the 4/9/20 deadline. Send two copies, one including author(s) names and affiliations and an anonymous copy for peer review. Authors will be informed of the outcome of their application by Monday 5
th October 2020, the dates for the free paper presentations will be 24th & 26th November.
Please format the author(s) and affiliations as follows:
Authors – First name and surname, no titles or qualifications. Use superscript numbers to indicate different institutional affiliations e.g. Joanna Bloggs

These will be held on the 24th & 26th November with the evenings starting at 7.30pm. More information to follow.
BAHT 2020 Research Grant
Congratulations to the winner of the 2020 BAHT Research Grant, Dr Lisa Newington! Lisa plans to conduct a Delphi study of hand therapists, hand surgeons and general practitioners to answer the question “Return to driving and work after carpal tunnel release: what should we advise our patients?”. The results of her work are much anticipated by the Hand Therapy community!
Flexor tendon Survey of current practice
The team at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre are currently looking at rehabilitation for flexor tendon repairs. They are hoping to gain a snapshot of current practice regarding rehabilitation regimes, commonly used splint materials, and rehab time frames.
They would be very grateful if 1 member from each unit would complete the survey below - more details can be found in the introduction to the survey, many thanks to those who have already completed the survey.
