Hello Students in Years 9-12,
We would like to share a really exciting opportunity with you today.
Year13, the developers of a digital career and life advice platform, have kindly offered all students a free Premium MyYear13 Account, where you can access the Year13 Digital Careers Expo which will be held on May 18-22. The site will offer your child information about a range of great local study and employment offerings, as well as national and international options!
As part of the Expo, there will be a range of very interesting speakers including:
- Laura Enever, a Pro Surfer,
- Will Hodgett, the Creative Director of GoPro Europe,
- Hugo Gruzman of Australian Band Flight Facilities,
- Blake Frantz, one of the ACT Education Directorate’s very own ASbAs; and;
- Industry experts on a variety of topics, ranging from creative industries, sustainability and apprenticeships!
If you haven’t already checked the site out, you will find it highly informative in helping you to think about life after schools and developing your pathways Plan. The service and the site have been developed by young people for young people and has some fantastic tools and resources.

"Hey legends,
We're getting extremely psyched to show you what we’ve got in store for the Year13 Expo next week.
A bunch of amazing people have jumped on board to help us make this the biggest thing to hit National Careers Week since, well, who knows how long?
We’ve been asked a few times why Year13 is throwing the Expo. There are three main reasons:
The first is that we know what it’s like to be in high school with no clue what you want to do after Year 12. It’s scary, and it’s way harder to find good advice than it should be.
The second is that we want to change things up. You guys send in questions to Year13 every day, and we wanted to create something that can answer as many of those questions as possible. That’s why the Year13 Expo isn’t going to look like any other career expo out there.
The last reason we’re throwing the Expo is because you guys deserve it!
You deserve to know all of the options you have for after school, and you deserve to be excited about your futures (especially in times like this). There’s no single path that you’re supposed to follow in life, and you can’t follow anyone else’s. You can, however, learn from the successes of people who have walked before you – and that’s the whole point of the Year13 Expo.
We hope you’re as pumped as we are for next week. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
