NEWS ADBI teamed up with ADB and global partners to launch policy principles for expediting recovery from water disasters like floods and droughts while preventing COVID-19 outbreaks. ADBI Dean Tetsushi Sonobe helped devise the principles and will support implementation efforts along with ADBI’s Capacity Building and Training Department. As the COVID-19 pandemic elevates the importance of e-commerce as a driver of economic resilience, this ADBI-CAREC Institute public virtual policy workshop will explore new opportunities for CAREC countries to utilize e-commerce and regulatory approaches that can help to maximize the trade and sustainable growth benefits in the region. WORKING PAPER In this report, ADBI’s Bihong Huang, ADBI alum Zhuoxiang Yang, and Yantuan Yu of Jinan University examine how the stringency of environmental regulation affects foreign direct investment into cities across the People’s Republic of China and their neighboring areas.
