A Pathway to Re-Opening
The recent announcements by our State and Federal governments have given us reason to hope that we can come out of isolation and worship together as a St Matthew's family sometime soon.  There is much to consider and prepare for as we begin to talk about what it will look like to worship together.  But there is also great hope and excitement that we can start being a church together again, even if it might look and feel a little different than what we are used to.  It feels like so much has changed for all of us over this time, but what has not changed, and will never change, is our trust in our Almighty God, whose plan is still active and at work in our world.  So we will continue to be a church that strives always to honour God, follow his word, take care of his children and preach his gospel wherever we are and whatever we do.

Make sure you watch St Matthew's Everywhere this week as Evan will spend some time letting us know more about what the St Matthew's leadership team has been talking about and please continue to pray for wisdom and patience for all of us as we navigate a new way of doing things in this COVID-19 age.
Are you new or newish to St Matthew's?
St Matthew’s Connect Group
You may have recently joined us, or you may have been around for a while and you’d like to find out some more about the life of St Matthew’s, what we believe and meet some others who are newish as well as some old timers.  St Matthew's Connect will be an informal gathering, including supper and opportunities to ask questions.  You’ll also get to meet a couple of our staff including our Rector, Evan McFarlane.

Does it sound like Connect is for you? We will meet at St Matthew’s, cnr. Derby and Onslow Rds, Shenton Park, for 5 weeks on Tuesday nights from 26th May to 23rd June, 7.30 to 9pm. To express interest, or enquire, please contact one of our ministers, Roger Morey at

St Patrick's & St Alban's Food Bank
Don't forget you can still help out with donations for the St Alban's and St Patrick's food bank service for those in need due to the COVID-19 health crisis and economic shutdown.

The St Matthew's family has been asked to assist specifically with the donation of non-perishable food stuffs and grocery items that the food bank is low on supplies of.  These items include:
  • tea, coffee
  • muesli bars
  • crackers
  • cooking sauces
  • tinned food
  • breakfast cereals
  • pasta
  • noodles
  • long-life milk
Items can be left during the day in the St Patrick's Mt Lawley hall at Cnr Beaufort St & First Avenue, Mt Lawley.  There is a table outside the door to place donations on if there isn’t someone at the office at St Patrick's.

If you are unable to get to St Patrick's but would like to donate items, you are welcome to drop them into St Matthew's on a Thursday between 10am and 3pm, when Janine will be in the office.  We will ensure these items are delivered to St Patrick's in a timely fashion.  Please do not leave items outside the church on any other day as we cannot guarantee they will be found by church staff.

If you would like to help out with this valuable work in any other way, or are in need, feel free to contact St Alban's (08 9328 8071) or St Patrick's (08 6114 1013) directly, but the above is their most urgent need at the moment.
