This evening will be the first meeting via Zoom of a task force of parishioners I have called together in collaboration with Senior Warden Lynn Ryle to consider what options there may be and what safety steps would have to be taken were Emmanuel to start working towards offering small in-person worship gatherings when this becomes feasible. Of course, people will have different priorities and make different choices about coming together in groups over the next months. With participation from some of our medical professionals as well as some strong administrators, our task force will consider guidelines from other dioceses as well as our own parish realities and any input we receive from Champaign County Public Health. I ask your prayers that we will be led by the Spirit to proceed with wisdom and grace.

This Week's Highlights
PARISH VIDEO-DEADLINE MONDAY!
We're putting together a collaborative Emmanuel reading of the story of the coming of the Holy Spirit for our Pentecost celebration! EVERYONE is invited to join in as we make this parish video together, and it's easy.
1. Wear something red.
2. Take a video -- in landscape view, and well-lit -- of yourself reading the first lesson for Pentecost, Acts 2:1-21.
3. Upload your file to any online storage and send a sharing link to Lisa Cerezo at lcerezo@gmail.com. (If you can't do this, contact Lisa for alternatives.)
4. Watch for the finished product later this month.
The deadline is Monday May 18, and again, the more the merrier!

FAREWELL TO FATHER CALEB

We will be sending our curate off to Oklahoma in just ten days! Please block out Sunday May 24th between 10 a.m.-noon for a drive through farewell in the Emmanuel parking lot. All three clergy will be present, and there will be a place to leave cards or gifts. You may also mail cards to the church anytime and we will continue passing them on. We hope Emmanuelites will turn out in great numbers to thank Fr. Caleb for his 3 years with us! (Rain date: Monday the 25th, Memorial Day, 10 a.m.-noon.)

PENTECOST SUNDAY
Pentecost, the last Sunday in May, is the grand finale of the Easter Season. As with Holy Week, the church will make available a home worship guide with companion video playlist so all of us can celebrate the same service together while dispersed. It will be emailed, snail-mailed to those without email, and available for pickup at Fr. Caleb's farewell drive-through on the 24th.

HATS OFF TO GRADUATES
If you or a family member is graduating this spring, we would love to include their name, degree received, and future plans in the June Messenger; please share them with Mary in the office!

IN A PASTORAL EMERGENCY - If you or a family member are in the hospital or have another personal emergency, please let the clergy know; they are ready to visit or assist. If the office is closed, please leave the information (including which hospital) in one of their personal office voicemail boxes or on a home phone. Emmanuel can also arrange to have meals provided; just ask!

CLERGY SCHEDULE INFORMATION -
The Emmanuel clergy seek health for both themselves and the parish culture by taking regular time off. MOTHER BETH  is off on Fridays.  FATHER CALEB is off on Mondays. DEACON CHRIS is off on Fridays. Voice mail may be left in their boxes at any time.

OFFICE HOURS - The Emmanuel office is open all five weekdays. Parish Administrator Mary Sievers is normally here from 9-12:30 Monday through Friday and until 3pm on Thursdays.
