COVID-19 Financial Impact
Managing the Financial Impact of COVID-19
At Tuesday's meeting, Council was provided with an update on the City's financial position, as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. The report outlines actions already implemented by the City to provide financial relief to residents and businesses and highlights potential lost revenues, additional expense, and preliminary projections.

Montrose Road Development Approved
Council approved the development of a four storey medical office building and a six storey retirement home on Montrose Road. The report and presentation to council can be viewed online.
Summer Aquatics Update
Summer Aquatics Update
The City of Niagara Falls Recreation & Culture Department provided Council with a Summer Aquatics Report on Tuesday. The following recommendations were approved:
  • That Council approve, due to health and safety concerns and timing, that the City not provide learn to swim lessons and other programming including swim team.
  • And that Council approves, if the order is not lifted by August 1, 2020, keeping the five outdoor pools closed.
  • And that Council approve, pending approval from the Province and Region, the
    opening all seven splash pad facilities for June 15, 2020
Council has requested staff to report back with more information at a future meeting.

Farmers' Market Update
Niagara Falls Farmers' Market Opening Plan
Council approved the opening date of June 6, 2020 for the Niagara Falls Farmers’ Market at the MacBain Community Centre. The temporary relocation at the MacBain Community Centre is necessary for the construction of the new Cultural Hub + Market, however, it also provides as an ideal location to ensure safe distancing. Recreation & Culture Staff have developed guidelines to ensure that it is done safely within current Public Health direction for COVID-19 transmission prevention. The Niagara Falls Public Library staff are dedicated to ensure business continuity and offer services to the community during these unprecedented and challenging times.
