Dear friends,

With all sincerity, I hope that this email finds you safe and well. So much has changed over the past few months, but friendship and support stand firm.
I write with a few updates on my work, a colouring-in competition, and a link to a podcast conversation that I took part in last week. Enjoy!

Colouring-in Competition: Bradley's Corner

A little competition for all the family! Have a go at colouring in this composition of ‘What’s happening at Bradley’s Corner?’. Send me a photo of your completed, colourful picture and I will add it to a display on my website. The best picture will receive a set of my Swindon postcards through the post. Closing date for entries: Friday 19 June 2020. Do share this with anyone else who would enjoy taking part!

Podcast Conversation: 'Notions of Care'

I was recently invited to take part in a conversation with fellow artists Amelia Hawk, Lady Kitt and Lucy Wright on the theme of ‘Notions of Care’. Each of us has our own unique perspective on this, and it is interesting to hear how this is reflected in our work. I discussed the care I received in hospital in 2018, and how that inspired my current series of paintings and prints.

Work in Progress

Work on my ‘hospital’ series continues apace. Six new designs for prints are almost ready to go. In the photo below you can see the test prints I made to see how the lino blocks shape up in action: blue figures on black background and vice-versa. The designs need to work both individually and as part of the series.

The oil paintings are shaping up, each new layer adding depth and clarity to the images. I work on these in rotation, leaving time in between each session for the oil to settle/oxidise.

Thinking ahead, I would like to exhibit this work towards the end of the year, if and when it is safe to do so. I am always happy to receive feedback or suggestions related to my work, and I would particularly welcome any suggestions about how to develop and promote this project in due course.

Online Exhibition

Three images from my hospital series were recently selected for an exhibition called ‘Art of Caring’. This is an annual, international exhibition celebrating Nurses, Midwives, Carers and the National Health Service. At present the exhibition can only take place online, with three new images uploaded each day. My work is due to be shown on Tuesday 26th May, and you can view it via the link below

Thank you to all key workers

Over the past few weeks I have been sharing some drawings on Instagram and Facebook to say ‘thank you’ to all the key workers who keep us safe and well. Here is a small selection – do follow me on Instagram or Facebook if you would like to receive more of these.
