PUBLIC WORKS COVID-19 UPDATE
MS POWER EXTENDS A HAND TO HELP

MS Power's Business Specialist Wendy Martinez worked with the Customer Care Center, Gulfport Ward One Councilman Kenneth “Truck” Casey, Sr. and Coastal Division Manager Tommy Murphy to make a nice donation to the nonprofit "Extend a Hand, Help a Friend." This non-profit organization focuses on empowering the youth and elderly in Gulfport. They have worked tirelessly to prepare and deliver thousands of meals to children and the elderly. As many were shutting down to shelter at home, they were picking up donated food and preparing lunch for students who couldn't eat at school and seniors who no longer had access to congregate meals at local community centers. Even though they are based in Gulfport, their efforts extended across the three Coastal counties and Stone County as they made every attempt to help every friend.

GPD FINGERPRINTING SERVICES
The Gulfport Police Department has resumed fingerprinting services. This service will be conducted each week on Tuesday and Thursday except for holidays and by appointment only. All individuals will have to pass screening questions upon arrival and submit to their temperature being taken.

All scheduling will be done Monday - Friday 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. by calling the Forensic Division at 228-868-5914. The public will still have to pay for this service when they arrive and should bring their own mask.
TURTLE RELEASE
The Gulfport Fire Department have released a turtle back to our Gulf. GFD created a partnership with the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies to help with the rescue of aquatic animals. The turtle was trapped by a fisherman’s hook. After GFD rescued the turtle, they provided it with immediate care before delivering it to the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies to be rehabilitated. Chief Beyerstedt was given the honor of putting it back into the water.
