Like most people, we too are feeling quite confined in both body and mind.  We would by now be preparing for our summer exhibition. New works, after weeks or possibly months of seeing them in preparatory form, would be arriving. This all seems very trivial now but in light of the changes in our lives we are experiencing right now, its the day to day interaction we have through these works of art that we miss the most.

This month we received new works by Liam O'Neill. When he initially sent the first images of these paintings, it lifted our spirits. So eager to see them in the 'flesh', when they arrived, we just stood there, watching.

Having visited this part of West Kerry for many years, we could see the view from Slea Head in 'Haymaking by The Sleeping Giant'. The Sleeping Giant, also known as The Dead Man, is the Northernmost of the Blasket Islands.  When viewed from the east it appears as a giant sleeping in the Atlantic Ocean, at little bit like Jonathan Swifts 'Gulliver's Travels'.

In 'Mackerel Fishing, Dooneen' we can view The Three Sisters rising gracefully from the sea in the background while the fisherman fight the force of the waves and the pull of the rocks.   The men digging for turf in the valleys of Mount Eagle and Coum a'Lochaig.  The farmer on his horse and cart 'Going to the Creamery' show us the everyday live which shaped the landscape and people of this beautiful region.

Just see for yourself!
