What If The Corona Virus Infested Yemen?

Virtually every nation on earth has been affected by the corona virus, and if over 82,000 Americans can die from it, what about the most vulnerable countries of the world? What will their numbers be?
Only one nation has been unanimously called "the world's worst humanitarian crisis" in the last few years. That nation is Yemen!
Now in its 6th year of civil war, Yemen HAS to be one of the most vulnerable nations. So... what if the corona virus infested Yemen?
Yemen And Corona Virus - Where Does It Stand?
- Yemen's first confirmed case of corona virus came on April 10, 2020
- As of May 12, Yemen had reported 65 cases and 10 deaths from the virus
- Aden - the interim capital of the overthrown Yemen government was declared "infested" with corona virus on May 11.
Yemen's numbers are modest, but the virus struck much later than other nations. Yemen is at the beginning of the pandemic, and it could be catastrophic!
Yemen - Why Is It So Vulnerable?
If the immunodeficient are the most susceptible to the highly contagious corona virus, consider the following:
- Preceding the corona virus, cholera, dengue fever and chikungunya fever had already devastated Yemen. These infirmities continue to do so! (i.e. 110,000 new cholera cases since January in 290 of 331 Yemen districts)
- 80% of the population (24 million people) rely on aid to survive
- 10 million face hunger and malnutrition
- Due to the civil war, over half of hospitals and clinics in Yemen have been destroyed or closed
- According to UNICEF, more than 18 million Yemenis desperate for clean water, sanitation, soap and hygiene assistance - all essential for containing the virus!
- When the corona virus outbreak began, a 30 day nationwide ceasefire was declared, but the war has actually worsened since then!
Prayer Needs
The corona virus has potential to wreak greater havoc upon the severely crippled nation of Yemen than what it has already experienced. Join us in praying for Yemen.
- Yemen is 99.6% Muslim and overflowing with Unreached Unengaged People Groups desperate for aid and salvation! Pray the LORD would send laborers who would preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick in Jesus' name (Luke 9:2)
- Pray especially for women, children and migrants from the Horn of Africa --- the most vulnerable in people Yemen.
- Pray the civil war would cease and peace would prevail over Yemen

May 19 is the "Night of Power" for Muslims, and it is their most important day during Ramadan.
