Housing For All

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Services to End and Prevent Homelessness and other community partners are looking for vacant housing units to match with people looking for permanent housing. Amidst this public health emergency, it’s even more critical to ensure that everyone has access to safe housing. The County has set the goal of housing at least 75 households by the end of May.

The County will provide inspections, coordinate completion of the application, and assist with the security deposit, first month’s rent and monthly housing subsidy, where applicable. The County also will provide small grants to properties, as eligible, when a unit is vacated, to cover costs of damages and overdue rent.

Housing is needed throughout the County, from efficiencies to three or more bedrooms. Locations with access to major bus routes and/or Metro are preferred. A survey has been created for property owners interested in participating in the Housing 4 All program. Once completed, a housing specialist will follow-up with survey respondents within 48 hours.

Fill out survey here.

Farmers Markets

 Downtown Silver Spring

Saturdays
 9AM TO 1PM
1 Veterans Place

During the COVID-19 crisis, our farmers markets remain OPEN, but we are implementing practices to ensure the safety and hygiene of all shoppers and vendors. Below find additional ways you can support our small, local businesses while reducing the risk to yourself and others during these uncertain times. (This list will be updated on an ongoing basis.)Pre-Order, Delivery, & On-Farm Pickup Options

In an effort to reduce customers’ time spent at market, better meet demands, expedite transactions, and limit currency exchange, vendors are offering pre-order + pick-up options at market or even on the farm.

Can’t make it to the market? Many vendors will deliver their goods straight to your door.

You can also view pre-order options, planned vendor absences, and ordering deadlines in this spreadsheet

This Sunday the Takoma Park Farmers Market will return to the Parking Lot behind the shops on Laurel Ave. Pre-orders being accepted now at some vendors. (See below)

NEW Managed Entrance, Exit and Limits to Customers in Market:
In its continued efforts to ensure social distancing, the market will be enforcing its Entrance (next to Suntrust Bank, 6931 Laurel Ave), introduce a new Exit (via the sidewalk next to the parking lot ramp exit onto Eastern Ave) and limit the number of customers in the market at any time. (With exceptions for seniors and the physically challenged).

Social Distancing and 1 Shopper Per Family
Vendors continue to work on flow, lines and social distancing at individual booths. Please wear a face mask to the market and help maintain a distance of 6' from other customers at all times. To reduce the number of people at the market, only send 1 person per family to shop (no kids, please). Please only touch what you would like to purchase and leave as soon as you are done.

Pre-Bagging and Pre-Ordering
Find pre-bagged items at the market to reduce contact and speed up shopping or pre-order online for easy pick-up. See website for vendors offering pre-orders and their individual cut-off dates and times for pre-ordering. New this Sunday, Audia's Farm will not attend the market, but will instead deliver pre-ordered baked goods and plants for your yard. More HEREPre-order now!

It affects almost every aspect of our daily lives! We need to ensure EVERYONE in Montgomery County is counted. The U.S. Census Bureau must keep all information confidential.
