From Canon Heather
Happy Pentecost, everyone!

Often the day of Pentecost is described as the birth day of the Church, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples, and the extraordinary testimony they gave to the crowd that gathered around them. How strange to be dispersed as we are, and not gathered as were the disciples.

For Pentecost Sunday, we will celebrate together at 8am, 10am and 2pm with liturgy, the Word and our music all celebrating the gift of the Holy Spirit to each one who believes on the name of Jesus Christ. We will be decorating the Cathedral with red and we'll have red flowers. For our zoom morning tea at 9.15am, I will be bringing red velvet cupcakes to the Cathedral for the staff to share, in a COVID-19 safe sort of way of course! So why not join the festivities by sharing in the red theme, with your clothes, flowers or red food to enjoy over morning tea with us? We are not able to meet together as we would usually, but we certainly can visibly express our unity in the Spirit as we worship in Spirit and in truth.

On Sunday evening you are very welcome to join us for a live streamed service at 6pm as we mark Reconciliation Week with a special service. We will be welcoming the Revd Helen Dwyer and Bishop Paul Barker, who will lead and preach. Philip Nicholls, our Director of Music has composed as special setting for our Psalm for the occasion. Do join us as we pray for reconciliation and healing in the relationship between first and later Australians.
