Friday Notice 29 May 2020

What's happening during Term 2:

June:

1 Monday: Pre Kinder children return to school
8 Monday: Queen's Birthday holiday
17 Wednesday: Committee Meeting @ 7pm

IMPORTANT: We've noticed a fair bit of congestion during drop off and pick up times at the gate at the bottom of the right of way. To maintain social distancing, can we ask during these challenging times, that parents leave the gate area as soon as they have dropped off or collected their children. If parents want to find a place to chat, the Bellerive Boardwalk may be a good meeting place.

From Julie

How wonderful it has been to see our students returning to school looking so happy to be here. If you look at the children playing in the outside playground you can just forget momentarily that COVID19 even exists! Children have enthusiastically resumed games and projects in the gardens and play spaces with friends they have missed seeing in person. Staff too are happily getting on with developing new hygiene routines and continuing with the class Term 2 learning focus. It is really great to be back.

Thanks to parents who are so promptly dropping off children and to children who are being fabulous at remembering to sanitise as they enter the gates.  I ask that even children riding their bikes in still enter through the pathway gates and sanitise as they come through. Our system of staggered finish times and of staff looking out for parents at the end of the day and then calling children over to leave straight away is largely working well so far. We know that many of the children really want to stay and play but it just cannot happen now because that will lead to congestion at the gates and poor social distancing. Please explain this to your child if they are asking to stay and play; once called they must leave immediately.

I hope you have all had a chance to look over the Parent COVID safety plan I emailed out on Monday. We have developed our own even more detailed one for staff here at school. Thank you to parents who have kept slightly ill children home and to those who have so obligingly come to collect their child with a sore throat or sniffle.

We tried our first Zoom Gathering yesterday which provided some insight into the world of learning from home as children shared videos they had made about what they learnt from home. We will continue to explore options for doing things in responsible and creative ways in these COVID safe times.

GOLDEN HANDSHAKES

Charlie (M1/2): for making a confident start to our time back at school with a smile on her face

What a lovely week it has been! After what seemed like an eternity, it is so nice to hear the hum of the children at work and play again. Welcome back everyone!  Annette

Littlies return to school: things missed and looked forward to...

Ollie is hailing a return to playing reptiles all around the pretend forest.

Emily missed the school bus, getting to see world in another way and has been dreaming about playing with her friends.

Sylvie couldn’t wait to get back to beading and playing spies.

Poppy missed playing with Elsie in the ‘bird nest’ tree.

Elsie loves learning with all of her friends and going on Environment Days especially the bus trip.

Shep knows that returning to school means doing his best so that he can become a captain with Air France. He’s also enjoying helping his friends to write.

Soren worked so hard at home school and is looking forward to playing families with friends all across the school.

Remy is so excited about the snake skin pouch he made on the first day back. He’s going to use it for collecting jewels.

And, at home school, Joe planned his flying tree game to play with his friends but really missed making paints in the mud kitchen with them.
