PTC UPDATE

Hello PTC,

Welcome to the unofficial start of summer! It looks like the club was well used over the Memorial Day weekend, and we were happy to see so many of you on the courts and in the pool again, at least in limited capacity.

Thanks to everyone for following the required guidelines set by San Mateo County which allow our club to stay open and limiting the need to enforce the rules by Lona and Steve. Please be kind to our managers when they do remind you of the rules – they are only ensuring we can continue to keep the courts and pool open during this crazy time.

A couple of updates and info:
SWIMMING POOL
We’ve opened a second swim lane since the pool is very popular. On the schedule, the “main lane” is the current swim lane and the “pool lane” can be used to swim laps next to the lane line. We realize there is no mark on the bottom of the pool for this lane, so its more difficult if you’re a serious lap swimmer. If you’re a more casual swimmer, please use the “pool lane” and leave the other lane for the committed swimmers. The current rules apply (see below), and we ask you to maintain a 6’ distance, especially when getting in and out of the pool.

We know many families are hoping for family swim sign ups, but the county restrictions are very onerous, and we cannot meet all the guidelines required at this time. We hope the county will relax the guidelines when the new order comes out on June 1 and we will reassess then. For now there is only adult lap swim.

We have a pool inspector come regularly to check the chemicals and who can shut down the pool if s/he doesn’t feel we meet the standards set by the county, so please be vigilant.

As a reminder, here are the guidelines again:
One swimmer per lane, adult exercise only.  Two adult swimmers of the same household may swim laps together in the same lane, 18 or older only.

Please sign up for half hour up to 1 hour time slots  this link and register yourself.  Once you are set up, visit https://peninsulatennisclub.skedda.com/booking anytime you want to make a reservation, or call the club at 650-347-1439 to have Lona or Steve help you.
  • The spa/hot tub remains closed -- spas are not cleared to re-open under county health guidelines.
The locker rooms remain closed and there is no showering or changing at the club. Only the boys and girls locker rooms are open and one person can enter at a time to use the facilities and wash hands.

Congregating or socializing is not allowed – please don’t hang out on the chaise lounges. Just like tennis, it is a swim and go situation for now.

Please maintain a 6’ distance, wash hands after you enter the club, and don’t come to the club if you or a member of your family is ill.

TENNIS
The board is actively monitoring the county guidelines to see when we can start allowing doubles. Again, we’re hoping for some clarification and hopefully a relaxing of standards when the new guidelines come out on June 1.
Some of the public courts did open this weekend, and they have the same restrictions we do – reservations required and singles only.
