Worship this Sunday - Pentecost
This Sunday we gather for Pentecost, a great sending out of the first disciples of Jesus. We remember this ragged band, previously sequestered in fear, whose mouths are suddenly opened by the coming of Holy Spirit in wind and flame. With fires raging in our cities and the horrific killing of George Floyd, it is crucial that we hear the truth pouring from open throats, raw with smoke. We must question whatever is comfortable for us and us alone, and yet again turn our hands and hearts to the tasks of justice. Together we will sing and pray, lament and rage and renew God’s direction in us.

Mpls. - St. Paul City-wide Curfews
We want to make certain we stay as safe as possible. Curfews have been put in place by both Minneapolis and St. Paul for Friday night – TONIGHT – and Saturday night. The curfews will begin at 8 p.m. each evening and last until 6 a.m. the following morning.
The Minneapolis declaration states: "During the curfew, all persons must not travel on any public street or in any public place."
In an accompanying order by Gov. Tim Walz, the curfews do not extend to people traveling to or from work, emergency services, law enforcement, people seeking emergency medical care or fleeing danger, the homeless and the media. For more visit the City of Minneapolis website by clicking HERE.

Minnesota UMC Responds to George Floyd Tragedy
We are all grieving the loss of George Floyd and the senseless brutally that resulted in his death. We did not have a chance to know him. His death cannot be undone by human hand or action.
And in the aftermath of violence in our city, we again look for ways to stop this madness of racial hatred.
Earlier this week, Minnesota UMC Bishop Bruce Ough acknowledged yet another pandemic ravaging Minnesota and our country - the scourge of racism, white supremacy, and white on black or brown violence.
As Bishop Ough states, "It is our responsibility as persons of faith, and particularly as followers of Jesus in the Methodist tradition, to address this pervasive pandemic of racism. We are compelled to address this pandemic with the same intensity and intentionality with which we are addressing COVID-19."
You can read Bishop Ough’s letter by clicking HERE.
