Plastic Free July is coming

Plastic Free July is an annual reminder and challenge to rethink your relationship with single use plastic. Get involved:

  • Pledge to ditch the big five single use plastics: takeaway coffee cups, plastic straws, shopping bags, water bottles and plastic wrapped fruit and veg

  • Make a pledge to try one new waste-free activity for the whole month! Make breakfast or cook a meal a week without using any ingredients wrapped in plastic, or make your own pledge

  • Start collecting soft plastic recycling at home, in your workplace or school and take it to the REDcycle bin at Coles and Woolworths

Play with your food

Keep the young people in your life engaged online and offline! Here are three great food reuse projects.

  • Get creative and enter the Young Re-inventor of the Year competition at school or at home. Demonstrate an idea to cut food waste, snap a photo and go in the running to win! Entries close on 23 October

  • Educate yourself with the new Farm to Fork app developed by Edith Cowan University. The app will game you through the waste and health implications of growing, transporting and manufacturing food. Download the app from the App Store

  • This Thursday, join our Young Re-inventor of the Year webinar, where young people will learn an activity to cut food waste
