It's time for Curbside!

We are very happy to announce the success of our no-touch return hours and quarantine process.  Our staff have been balancing remote work and limited staggered shifts in the building, adhering to state staff safety and health screening requirements.  We have a great team, all working together to keep you and their coworkers safe.

We are pleased to say we feel confident that we can safely provide no-touch curbside services, beginning next week!  The details and process are outlined below.

Stay healthy!

Please feel free to contact me any time at jperrin@townofjaffrey.com.
Kind regards, Julie M. Perrin, Library Director - a.k.a. Ms. Julie

No-Touch "Trunk or Table" Curbside Begins June 1

Our curbside services will follow a reservation procedure that adheres to social distancing requirements.

We have developed a schedule to allow for pick-up times for approximately 90 households per week.  We cannot offer unlimited pick-up times due to the need to maintain staff safety with staggered, limited shifts and the need to preserve PPE.

Our initial schedule will offer pick-up times on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next three weeks. We will add times according to demand, as we are are able.
All pick-up times will require a reservation and  a designation of "Trunk" or "Table" pick-up style (explained below).

Here's the plan:
  • Week of June 1 - Pick-up priority for our non-digital patrons and patrons with reserves.  (Place your reserves online via your library account, please.)  This week we will offer standard materials (books, audios, DVDs) AND Ms. Linda's famous curbside Take & Make Crafts -- which you can now reserve via the catalog.  (She has prepped 150 envelopes featuring five different craft projects.)
  • Week of June 8 -- All of the above, plus we will also have prepped all of our Field Science kits, Sewing kits (including machine and patterns, thanks to a great donation from New England Fabrics!)  and additional STEAM kits, as they are ready  (which you will be able to reserve online).
  • Week of June 15 - All of the above AND the Summer Learning launch of many additional STEAM kits (Thank you, Millipore!), including compound and stereo microscopes for all ages, Artist Afternoon kits -- all supplies included, Take & Make crafts with stories -- all supplies included, Mad Science kits, Coding kits  Mahjong kits, Sewing kits, Book Club kits...  The list keeps growing!

Here's what you need to do:
  • Reserve your items.  Reserving through your library account is easy!  Ms. Andrea has prepared a how-to video.  You can watch it here.  If you still need help, call or email us.  Remember that an unavailable item might just be in quarantine, so don't hesitate to reserve as it might be available by the time of your pick-up appointment.
  • A staff member will call you to schedule a pick-up time.
  • Don't forget to reserve kits as they become available!  Put "STEAM kit" in the search bar of the catalog to see what's available.
  • Trunk or Table? We will ask you when we schedule your pick-up time if you want Trunk or Table.  In order to remain No-Touch for staff, we ask that you pop your  trunk before pulling up to the door or retrieve your bagged items yourself from a table, where they will be labelled with your name.
  • Will staff touch my items? We recognize that the asymptomatic/presymptomatic carrier scenario is very scary.  All staff will be masked and gloved when retrieving, checking out, and bagging your items, just so we don't share our germs.
  • Can I get books in Week 1 and come back again in Week 3 for STEAM kits?  Yes! You can schedule multiple pick-up times.  We will expand as we are able to meet demand.
  • Can I return items at the same time? Yes!  We will offer No-Touch Return boxes during the curbside hours so you may also return items at your scheduled pick-up time.
Even with a few technical difficulties, My First Online Book Club was so much fun!  We read and created together via Zoom.
Our next meeting is June 23 at 4 pm.
Register on our Event Calendar and we will reserve a Book Club kit for you to pick up curbside, complete with book and all the supplies you will need for our group activity!

No-Touch Return Hours

Please help us maintain the safety of our Book Drop for packages and mail and do not use the Book Drop for your returned items until further notice.

Materials may be returned at your scheduled pick-up time.
If you are not picking up materials, we have a scheduled drop-off time this Friday, May 29 from 10 am - 2 pm.  We will schedule additional times after we review our first week of curbside service to be sure we can manage the additional safety and quarantine procedures effectively.

How does it work?
  • During the designated times, you will find boxes, lined with garbage bags on our front steps.
  • Please place your returns in these bag-lined boxes.  Please do not wrap the items in additional bags that staff will have to unwrap later.
  • Ms. Julie will come out and tie up the bags to bring them to a quarantine area in the building, without handling the items.
  • Those items will NOT be checked in until the quarantine period of at least one week has gone by, so do not be concerned that they remain listed on your account.
  • You may return any books, movies, or audiobooks, including inter-library loans.

Please do not use the Book Drop.

Questions? Email us or leave a message at 603-532-7301.

Guess who's coming to Storytime, all the way from the North Pole?!

You guessed it!  Santa will be joining us for our Zoom Storytime on Wednesday, June 17 at 10:30 am.
Register for the password to visit with Santa and find out what he and the reindeer do in the summer months.  Do you think he wears that hot suit?

Still a Full Menu of Digital Services

Even though we are starting curbside services, our full menu of virtual services and programs will continue. Enjoy!
Pandemic Etiquette at the Library
We can only safely provide curbside services if people in the vicinity observe safety measures, including wearing masks and observing social distancing.
We know some people have chosen to hold small group gatherings on our lawn, without masks or social distancing. It would be very sad for all of us if we had to delay rolling out services for all because of safety concerns caused by a few members of the public.
Please wear a mask and keep your distance when at the library.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Be safe!
