Words of Wisdom

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

A Message From Tom Marks...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Our society often associates mental health with self-care. As spouses, parents, leaders, etc. it is often easy for us to put the needs of our family and friends above our own. While our responsibilities may prevent us from fully honoring our feelings and emotions, it is important to recognize them. Remember, you are enough.

Now more than ever, it is imperative that we be gentle with each other and ourselves. What our communities are currently facing is not normal. The Coronavirus has impacted life as we know it and as time moves forward, we will have to adapt to necessary changes to continue to flatten the curve.

During this period of quarantine and social distancing, many of us may be left feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Being the healthy lawyer, I know that tending to my landscape and witnessing the progression of my fruit trees serves as an outlet. However, I also recognize that not everyone has an accessible hobby right now.

Adhering to stay at home orders and being away from our friends and family puts us in a position to be alone with our thoughts. While some may welcome this as an opportunity for self-discovery, others may struggle with processing their emotions. Both experiences are valid.

For those who are facing financial hardship due to loss of income, or experiencing other difficult circumstances related to the pandemic, I encourage you to seek help in order to best navigate your situation.
