HOW ARE YOU DOING?
We’ve all had to take in a lot these past nine weeks—the news never stops. You wouldn’t be human if you weren’t affected by it all.
Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month? We invite you to take a moment to think about how you’re supporting your own mental health.
For example, focusing on gratitude has been shown to positively shift one’s mood, decrease stress, and lower blood pressure. While this a great practice, some people may also need professional support. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
If you or a loved one needs mental health care, please visit us here or place a call to our confidential Mental Health Intake line at 415-892-1643 ext. 239 (se habla español).
In addition to checking in with you on your mental health, we would like to tell you about the people we’re serving in our community. Our team of 14 mental health professionals have been busy helping youth and adults work through a variety of pressing issues including:
- Substance abuse
- Isolation, depression, and anxiety
- Domestic violence
- Grief and loss
- Trauma
Most of our clients are low or very low income. Before the pandemic, they were already dealing with the hardship of living under extreme financial stress. Since March 16, we’ve provided mental health care, emergency food, emergency rental assistance and other critical supports to 4,375 people in need. (Click here to view graph larger)
It’s a tremendous number – can we say it again? 4,375 people! (Click here to read our full report.)
Why we do this work: Let us warm your heart with a story of a family we recently helped. Click here to read this family’s story.
Thank you for helping us making a difference to this family, and literally hundreds more like them.
Together, we will continue to serve the families and adults in our community, and together we will create a stronger, more resilient community for all.
