Ethiopian Kana TV, probably best known for broadcasting lots of foreign soap operas dubbed into Amharic, makes a few interesting home grown television programmes.
One of the better ones is their Masters at Work series which showcases the work of Ethiopian singers, poets, fashion designers, photographers and the like. The early episodes are quite short, just a few minutes each, but have the advantage that they were broadcast with English subtitles.

Here's a couple of episodes featuring Ethiopian photographers:

Girma Berta is an award winning young artist based in Addis Ababa. Born in 1990, Girma is a graphic designer and self-taught photographer whose work fuses street photography with fine art.
He's best known for his Moving Shadows series (above photo) where he cuts out figures from his street photography, and then inserts them into digitally created backdrops. The whole process was carried out on his mobile phone, and the results posted on his Instagram account. In 2016 Girma was awarded a Getty Images Instagram Award grant for his work.
Girma says in his Masters at Work appearance, “The message I want to send out to young people with interests in photography is not to be scared to try new things, Also, I would advise them to use social media properly to share their pictures, because they can show their pictures to the rest of the world easily; I think until we can find the style of photography that defines us, we must search for it ourselves.”
Girma is now signed with Addis Fine Art.

Yonas Tadesse describes himself as a "self-taught photo artist" and as a "photographer who tells stories through images". He quotes Ansel Adams - “You don't take a photograph, you make it”.
Yonas believes the streets are full of life, that there are stories everywhere and that everything has a voice and he aims, through his photography, to provide a platform to voice these stories. His work has been featured in various print and online media, from Vogue Italia (above photo) to Selamta, and can be seen on his Instagram account.
Yonas says in his Masters at Work appearance, "Photography, for me, is a way to express an idea, a message, a culture and my perception of it ..."
