Winston Churchill visits bomb-damaged Birmingham, England, during the Blitz.

Memorial Day Message 2020

Dear Friends and Supporters,

In Great Britain, my country of birth, there are those who have drawn parallels between the current pandemic and the Second World War. Some comparisons are genuinely credible, and some are credible perhaps only to those who did not experience, firsthand, the horrors of the blitz or the fighting.

There are precious few silver linings to the dark clouds we face today, but one of them is the increased sense of community and common struggle that certainly would have been familiar to the WWII generation. It’s been a very good thing.

On a similar but much lighter note, I have been happy to see the return to popularity of the Dame Vera Lynn song, We’ll Meet Again (if you don’t know it give it a listen – it’s wonderful and fitting during the enforced separation measures currently in place).

This Memorial Day we will remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice and try not to equate our current hardships to the burdens they bore. Perhaps we will also recognize that, even in the most tragic of times, good things do happen.

In addition to the current improvement in communal goodwill, we have seen a significant reduction in airborne pollution – which kills around seven million souls a year. We, at Envision, have recognized our veterans this week for their service and commitment to the missions that took them into harm’s way on our behalf, in theatres across the world. But we also salute them, and the other members of our team, for their commitment to a new mission; to bring clean mobility to all. It is a vital and worthy mission.

Dame Vera sang, “We’ll meet again…when the blue skies chase the dark clouds far away”. Words with a different, but perhaps just as poignant, meaning today as they had during the dark days of 1939.

We, at Envision Solar, are on a mission to create infrastructure that will push the dark clouds of pollution far away – forever.

Thank you for supporting us in that mission.

I wish all of you a very safe and Happy Memorial Day.
