Hello

It's amazing, we start out thinking we've got a few things to post in Mailchimp, and by the time we finish its turned into another epic installment!.  Grab a cuppa and have a browse through the info - there is bound to be something for you.

Did you forget to send in your item for the time capsule??

Neighbourhood House Week may be over but we are still accepting your items for inclusion in NHT's time capsule. We will now be sealing your letters in the Time Capsule (we are still accepting emailed versions of your letters - we promise not to read them) on the 30th June
So if you want to be part of the fun in 2 years time when we open it, email your letter to Louise at admin@nht.org.au or post it to us.

Being physically active, eating well and connecting socially with others have so many benefits not just for our physical health but mental health too.
The Department (DoH) are offering another opportunity to Neighbourhood Houses to turn your great ideas for supporting health and wellbeing in your community, into reality.
DoH are offering one-off grant of $1000 to Neighbourhood Houses to help improve local access to health and wellbeing activities in some small way.

The Tasmania Project - Food Survey

UTAS' Institute of Social Change is currently conducting a survey of Tasmanian residents aged 18 years and over. The survey is focused on food security during the pandemic and whether they have been able to buy enough safe and healthy food to meet their needs during COVID-19. Including how they have shopped for food, and how food access and supply could be different in the future. To take the survey please click here

Input into Stage 1 of the Premiers Economic and Social Recovery Advisory Council.

TasCOSS is seeking input from Community Services to feed into Stage 1 of the Premiers Economic and Social Recovery Advisory Council. NHT will also be contributing a submission, and you can send any comments directly to us if you do not want to do the survey.  Please send your comments to tracey@nht.org.au ASAP

Stage 1 of the work of the Council is to provide advice to the Premier by July 2020 on the status of the challenges and issues that Tasmania faces due to COVID-19, and potential immediate actions and initiatives.  TasCOSS has been asked to co-ordinate input from Community Services on the following questions to generate a broadly-consistent picture across sectors of the nature of the economic and social impacts of COVID-19.

Survey questions are

  1. What are the current impacts of COVID-19 on your sector, organisation and/or service users?
  2. What impacts do you anticipate in the next few weeks and months and what will influence those impacts?
  3. What data or information can you share to demonstrate this impact?
  4. What has been put in place so far to address these impacts?
  5. What isn’t being addressed?
  6. Within your sector and more broadly, what do you see as priorities for a response?
    • Eg What needs to stop, continue or commence?
  7. What can be done to build business/consumer/community confidence?
  8. What would help your sector or organisation to re-employ people?d p

You can take the survey hereIt aims to collect 'headline information' and should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. The timeframe for this stage is very tight – my apologies for this.

The TasCOSS survey closes at 10am Monday 1st June.
