re|IGNITE, an effort led by One Region, seeks to provide guidance to businesses and employees on how and when to safely reopen businesses. The strategy leverages expertise from business, healthcare, nonprofit, and government sectors to create a coordinated, science-based approach to restoring the local economy. The phase one plan can be downloaded at OneRegionREIGNITE.org. The website will be updated with content throughout the duration of the pandemic. Charleston County Public Library branches are providing curbside pickup starting June 8 for books and other items placed on hold. Pickup hours are Mon., Tues. and Fri. from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Thurs. from 1-7 p.m. Reserve items online or by calling your nearest branch.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Charleston will present their findings from an 18-month analysis on how to minimize the impact of coastal storm surge, known as the 3x3x3 process. Representatives from the Army Corps will provide a history and overview of the 3x3x3 process and discuss how they approached their study for Charleston. Mark Wilbert, Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Charleston, will discuss the city’s role in the process as the non-federal sponsor, and what this project means for the community.
