Hampton National Historic Site Temporarily Closed
Effective 5:00 pm March 28, 2020

Because the Covid-19 pandemic has created the need for changes around the globe, Hampton National Historic Site has been closed since March 28, 2020.

Closure includes all park facilities and parking lots. The park is closed to motor vehicle traffic and parking. Pedestrians are still permitted in the park from dawn to dusk. Anyone in the park should adhere to CDC guidelines on social distancing.

Parking: Vehicles will not be permitted to enter or park within the boundaries of Hampton National Historic Site during the closure. Pedestrian visitors are encouraged to review the following parking guidelines.  You may not park in the following places outside of the gates:
  • In front of and/or blocking park gates and roadways.

  • On the grass in front of the park along Hampton Lane. These areas are considered within the boundary of Hampton National Historic Site and are not designated for parking.

Thank you for being respectful stewards of Hampton!  We hope to see you soon.

We miss you!  While HNHS is closed for programs and events, we thought we'd share some photographs of Hampton from previous years.

Hampton National Historic Site and the Baltimore National Heritage Area Videos
(in conjunction with Every Kid Outdoors and the Ethnographic Study)
Hampton National Historic Site and the Baltimore National Heritage Area have partnered to create videos of exclusive virtual tours of the Hampton National Historic Site. In these videos HNHS shows areas of the Park that are not open to the public to give viewers insight about the enslaved and indentured servants that worked at Hampton. What were their lives like? What were their major accomplishments? How did they nurture their families? How did they eventually get their freedom? These questions and more are addressed in these three videos.

Virtual Passport Stamps

Stay connected and get stamped! Passport To Your National Parks® is helping Extend The Experience with free downloadable cancellations to go with fun virtual park experiences and activities that can be enjoyed at home. (A cancellation is a rubber ink stamp that records the name of the national park and date of your visit. Cancellations are free to collect at every national park in America.)  America’s National Parks (formerly Eastern National, the organization that runs the Hampton museum shop) will continue to add more virtual experiences and cancellations to their site (https://americasnationalparks.org/virtual-passport-cancellations/), so check back often.

Collecting virtual cancellations is easy! Once you complete the tour, program, or activity, click the “Download” button to view a PDF or click the cancellation image for a digital PNG file (that you can print). After that…Paste It in Your Passport! If you’d like to save your virtual cancellation in your regular Passport To Your National Parks®, print the PDF file at 150×150 pixels to get the right cancellation size. Print in color to match the Passport regions!
