Schedule Your Donation for Give Nola Day Today!

Ubuntu is working closely with city, court, and JJIC officials to ensure that visitation and court appearances can occur safely for families and young people.

Your Give Nola Day donations this year will continue to support our ongoing programming--parent navigators in the courts, challenging juvenile fines and fees, and participatory research--and they will also go toward helping families stay safe during the pandemic.

Your donations will support:
-Cloth masks for families and young people
-Taxi/Uber/Lyft passes for families who need to travel to juvenile court or the JJIC, so they can avoid using the bus system which has seen many COVID-19 cases
-Hand sanitizer, disinfectant, and other cleaning supplies for families who cannot afford them
-Assistance financing internet service and devices for families who are asked to participate in tele-conferences about their child's case or are eligible for video visitation

Our Youth In Secure Care Are Not Safe
There are over 30 cases of Covid-19 in Louisiana's youth prisons. In the words of one mother of an incarcerated child, "If I don't hear from him, I'm like, Is he OK? What is he doing? Why hasn't he called me? Did my baby get sick?"

Please sign this petition asking Governor Edwards to limit unnecessary arrests and incarcerations and take steps to keep young people who remain incarcerated as safe as possible.
