The application period for the CMHA BC scholarships and bursaries program is now open! There is a wide range of awards available for post-secondary students with lived experience of mental health or substance use concerns living in British Columbia.

Students are encouraged to apply!

Lorne Fraser Educational Bursary

The Lorne Fraser Educational Bursary is designed to provide financial resources for people with experiences of mental illnesses who are pursuing goal-oriented job skills/training. These $700 bursaries is awarded once annually to individuals over the age of 20 and have experience with mental illness or significant substance use challenges and are accessing therapeutic support/mental health service

Lorne Fraser Educational Scholarships for Mental Health Promotion
The Lorne Fraser Scholarship for Mental Health Promotion is designed to support people with experience of mental illnesses as they pursue post-secondary education. Scholarships worth $1000 and $2000 are available to two post-secondary students entering the second, third, or fourth year of an undergraduate program, or any stage of a graduate program, whose education and career goals are related to mental health promotion.

Mental Health Fine Arts Bursary
The Mental Health Fine Arts Bursary (FAB) Award, held at the Vancouver Foundation, recognizes the efforts of individuals who can use their skills in the fine arts to support those experiencing mental illness. Two $1,000 bursaries provide support for post-secondary students with lived experience, 18 years or older, who is pursuing fine arts in BC and has accessed therapeutic support/mental health services.

Indigenous Mental Health Fine Arts Bursary @ Emily Carr
The Mental Health Fine Arts Bursary (FAB) Award, held at the Vancouver Foundation recognizes the efforts of individuals who can use their skills in the fine arts to support those experiencing mental illness. This $1,000 bursary provides support for an indigenous post-secondary student with lived experience, 18 years or older, who is pursuing fine arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECUAD) and has accessed support/mental health services.

Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary

The vision of the Janice Lee Blue Wave bursary program is to invest in the resilience, wisdom and potential of young people and to reduce some of the barriers during the major transition from high school to higher education. These $700 bursaries available for those 20 years or under and have experienced a significant mental health or substance use challenge and are accessing treatment and support.

Wanted - Review Panelists

CMHA BC is looking for dedicated individuals to join our review panel and help select this year's award winners. Review panelists will be asked to review applications online through a secure process. Estimated time commitment is at least 10 hours from July 20-31. Applicants from across BC are encouraged to apply.
