Recovering Outside
There is about to be a lot of discussion about how much street space will be commandeered for recovery.  The NYC Council has promoted the Open Streets Program and, in a bid to recover our restaurant sector, "Social Distance Dining;" a plan to expand sidewalk and streetbed cafes.  Join the May 29th Community Talk.   Info and registration here:  https://greenwichvillagechelseacc.eventbank.com/event/community-talk-opening-nyc-streets-for-social-distanced-dining-23305/

The Open Streets program which proposes to close streets for resident's recreation is another plan needing way more discussion.  There is a CB#2 virtual meeting on the topic on Thursday June 4th.

We discuss the advantages and obstacles in detail
Census

Get With It, NoHo
Maybe some of you are residing in second homes right now but that doesn't mean you can ignore this.  Fewer than 38% of our households have filled out their forms!
This means $$$ for schools, roads, housing, hospitals and much more in the coming year.  Fill it out online right now,

Have You Requested An Absentee Ballot?

We know many NoHo residents have relocated to less dense places - and so does the Board of Elections.  SO, anyone can request an absentee ballot for the June Primary...and you can have it sent to wherever you will be.  Absentee ballot voting must be postmarked between June 13th and 22nd.  Do it online:  https://nycabsentee.com

NoHo is among the neighborhoods that have suffered the least human toll among NYC neighborhoods; between residents, closed College campuses and shuttered businesses, it also has a high rate of people who have moved out of the City to escape COVID-19 affects.

This doesn't mean that we will escape some uncomfortable cures on our road to re-imagining our cherished mixed-use character or the economics that have helped our neighborhood thrive in the past.  We are closely following residential and real estate impacts as well as all aspects of restaurant and retail support and recovery and will share whatever substantive information we find.

Community Talk on Opening NYC Streets for Socially Distanced Dining this Friday, May 26th at 12:00 PM. As we start thinking about what reopening our business communities might look like, the city will need to allow our restaurants to operate in new ways moving forward. Speakers include NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson, City Council Member Carlina Rivera, and Executive Director of the NYC Hospitality Alliance Andrew Rigie.  You can join the discussion by registering here.
