CPS TV

Chicago Public Schools has partnered with WLS, Univision/UniMás, WCIU and WTTW to provide supplemental educational programming to increase the accessibility of enrichment resources for students. Through these partnerships, digital content from CPS’ Curriculum Equity Initiative content library in subjects such as math, science, and language arts will air on WLS, Univision/UniMás, and WCIU’s digital subchannels. Additionally, Chicago’s local PBS affiliate WTTW – which is nationally known for its educational programming – has reorganized its digital subchannel to focus on educational content geared toward students in middle grades.

WLS

Channel: Channel 7.2 (Comcast Ch 217 & 1178, RCN Ch 618, WOW Ch 219, Mediacom Ch 723, Charter Ch 608)

Air Times: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

WTTW

Channel: Channel 11.2

Description: PBS is nationally known for the quality of its educational programming and Chicago’s local PBS station, WTTW, has reorganized the content on its sub-channel to focus on students in middle grades. CPS encourages students, teachers and parents to leverage programming on Channel 11.2 as a supplemental educational resource and utilize the PBS online platform PBSLearningMedia, which provides teachers and students with access to a suite of free supplemental resources.

As a reminder, CPS issued chromebooks must be used in accordance to the  Student Code of Conduct and these expectations.

  • Use the device only for school-related purposes.
  • Use only school-appropriate language, images, and videos.
  • Communicate in a way that is kind, creating a positive digital footprint.
  • Ensure proper permission to write or share about others, including any photos or images
  • Remember that inappropriate use of this device may result in discipline.

  • Always use the device with my own CPS account. 
  • Leave the settings, applications, and software as they are unless my teacher directs otherwise.
  • I will not remove the asset tag.
  • Practice internet safety.
  • Use trusted sources when conducting research on the Internet.
  • Keep all passwords and log-in information secure.
  • Report threatening or offensive materials to a teacher or administrator.
Protecting and Caring for my Device I understand that to care for my device, I will:
  • Keep the vents, keyboard, and screen clear of objects that could harm my device.
  • Keep my device away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Carefully insert cords, cables, and removable storage devices.
  • Keep my device in a secure or supervised location and know where it is at all times. I will not loan it out to other individuals.
