The decision of the RAGFP Executive on Monday was to extend the Call for Nominations.  This call to extend to 15th June.  This decision has been made in the knowledge that the required skills sets are very much needed on the RAGFP Board at this time.
 
The Board Election Ballots will be sent out on 19th June, 2020.

Final submission of votes is due on 13th July, 2020.

The Annual General Meeting will take place on Monday, 20th July by Zoom and Board Director elections will be announced.

Dear Peacebuilder,

By this call, the Nominating Committee of the Rotary Action Group for Peace is hereby soliciting your suggestions to fill two vacancies on our Board of Directors.  The term of office is three years starting July 20th, 2020 and running through June 30, 2023. The two vacancies arise because the terms of the following Directors expire on June 30, 2020: Garbis Der
Yeghian, and Brian Farr. 

The Nominations Committee will propose two candidates to fill the two vacant positions. The Nominations Committee will also propose two additional candidates selected from suggestions from the membership submitted to the RAGFP office no later than June 15th,2020. A 200-word biographical sketch of the suggested candidate must also be submitted by June 15th, 2020. 

The Nominations Committee is made up of the following Board Members: 1.Garbis Der
Yeghian (Immediate Past Chair and Nominations Committee Chair), 2. Alison Sutherland (Current RAGFP Board Chair), and 3. Isabel Martinez (RAGFP Treasurer).

In preparation for voting, the Rotary Action Group for Peace membership will be provided with information about each candidate, including the 200-word biographic sketch. Ballots will be sent to all members in good standing no later than June 19th, 2020, in order that they may vote. The deadline for voting is July 13, 2020 All paid Rotary Action Group for Peace members will be requested to vote for no more than two candidates. The results of the vote will be announced by July 20th, 2020, via zoom. 

Candidate Qualifications 

Nominated Candidates to fulfill the following qualifications:

  1. Looking for one Director who is a current or retired American lawyer. The Individual will not be the legal counsel to the RAGFP but whose background in American law make them sensitive to and able to identify potential legal issues that may arise during the RAGFP operations and decisions. This person should preferably have previous board experience.
  2.  Looking for one Director who has a proven track record in non-profit fundraising and who can lead the RAGFP's fund development efforts. This person should preferably have previous board experience. 

RAGFP Board Structure

Rotary Action Group for Peace Board Structure Summary:

  • Effective 1 July 2018, the Board will be comprised of 11 Directors;
  • All Directors are currently required to be Rotarians, Rotary Peace Fellows, or Rotaractors. (Rotarian family members, Rotaractors, Rotary Peace Fellow Alumni and other Rotary Alumni are eligible for committee assignments);
  • All Directors have full voting privileges;
  • At this time, the Board meets monthly via Zoom at 9:00 am PST for meetings that last approximately 90-120 minutes;
  • Directors are limited to serving no more than two three-year terms consecutively. 
The RAGFP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on activating the Rotary community to create pathways to peace. The RAGFP believes that everyone can be a peacebuilder. We want to advance positive peace around the world by empowering the grassroots systems, structures, and attitudes that enhance an ecosystem of peace. As a global network, the RAGFP empowers communities to convene, collaborate, and unite for peace action. Our Board of Directors and committees work daily to promote the peace projects of Rotary clubs, districts, and zones while supporting the communications within the Rotary world about peace and conflict resolution.

We seek candidates with on-the-ground experience in developing peace projects or that have expertise in running and growing a dynamic organization. We need your assistance to make peace a reality.

She/He has agreed to have her/his name suggested and will accept the Director position if nominated and elected. 
She/He also understands that to be considered for nomination she/he must submit a 200-word biographical sketch setting out her/his peace-related background and global vision no later than June 15, 2020.
